St. Louis, Missouri
Team co-founder and seasoned advisor who brings nearly 40 years of experience to helping business owners and successful families navigate the decisions that shape their financial lives.
Specialization: Business Owners • Retirement Planning • Qualified Retirement Plans
Education: DePaul University, B.A. Economics
I’ve spent my career of nearly four decades across commercial banking and wealth management asking questions that other advisors don’t think to ask. Not just the obvious financial planning questions, but the life questions that sit underneath them. Things like: you’ve worked hard to build real wealth, what are you doing to make sure it doesn’t have a negative impact on your children? Most people haven’t thought through those questions carefully. That’s where I come in.
Before joining Moneta where I co-founded what is now the Halls Dorn Aiazzi Team, I spent nearly 14 years at Boatman’s Bank of St. Louis in commercial and institutional banking, eventually running teams and lending authority as a Senior Vice President. That experience gave me a deep, firsthand understanding of how businesses work and what it actually takes to build one. When I came to Moneta, I built my own practice from scratch. That experience gave me something I couldn’t have gotten any other way: a genuine respect and appreciation for the business owners who make up a large part of my client base. I understand their mindset because I’ve lived a version of it myself. I know what the focus requires, what’s at risk, and how unlikely success really is when you look at it honestly.
How I work with clients
My primary focus is serving successful families and business owners as their dedicated Family CFO. That means understanding the whole picture — not just the investments, but the business transition, the estate plan, the family dynamics, the life stage — and staying steady as a long-term partner through whatever comes next.
I also have deep experience in qualified retirement plan work, with a particular emphasis on participant education. In my experience, the best investment options and the most generous employer match in the world are of no use if employees don’t participate or make emotional, illogical decisions with their money. Education is the lever that most directly improves retirement outcomes, and it’s a cornerstone of how I serve plan sponsor clients.
What I find most meaningful is being the kind of advisor clients feel they can call about anything. This of course includes their portfolio, but more often my conversations hinge on their complicated decisions that have financial dimensions to them. That might be a business transition, a wealth transfer to the next generation, or just making sense of a major life change. I’ve seen enough over the years to know what actually matters, and I bring that perspective to every client relationship.
Tim outside the office
Outside of Moneta, I’ve been charitably involved in the St. Louis community for over 30 years. My past board memberships include Prevent Child Abuse Missouri and the Delta Gamma Center for Visual Impairment. I currently serve as Chair Emeritus of the Danforth Plant Science Center Friends Committee and remain involved with LifeWise St. Louis, formerly known as Kingdom House.
I live in Town and Country with my wife. My older daughter recently graduated from Belmont University with a degree in Music Business, and my younger daughter is a senior at Mizzou studying Strategic Communications in the journalism school.
