Thomas M. Segerstrom
CFA
Tom Segerstrom helps families set goals, evaluate their options, and chart a confident course toward retirement. As an Advisor with the Lane Hipple Team at Moneta, Tom focuses on making sense of how clients can achieve their objectives and helping them understand how each piece of their financial plan works together.
Tom joined Moneta in 2026, drawn to the firm’s client-centered approach, its role as a fiduciary registered investment adviser, and its clear financial planning process. Whether clients are preparing for retirement, supporting charitable causes, or saving for college, he helps them align their hard-earned resources with their long-term priorities so they can feel informed, confident, and prepared for the future.
Tom began his career at Vanguard, helping families plan and save for their children’s college education. He later joined Vanguard’s Institutional Advisory Services team, where he worked with endowments and foundations seeking to protect and grow their portfolios while meeting ongoing grantmaking and cash flow needs. He most recently served as a Senior Investment Consultant at Mercer, leading client reviews, supporting business development efforts, and recommending investment strategies for endowment and foundation clients.
His experience in investment analysis, investment manager research, and portfolio construction provides a strong foundation for his work in financial planning. Tom earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematical Economics from Gettysburg College and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation. He is an active member of the CFA Society of Philadelphia and is working toward his CFP® certification.
Tom’s approach is grounded in aligning each client’s investments with their financial plan, goals, and objectives. He especially enjoys helping families navigate the changes that arise along the path toward and into retirement. His background in institutional investment research informs his focus on building investment programs designed to support a financial plan for decades, not just years.
Outside of work, Tom lives in Moorestown, New Jersey, with his wife and young son. He enjoys traveling, spending time with friends and family, running, playing piano, and pursuing landscape photography with his drone. He especially enjoys being on the water along the coast of Maine.
