Matthew Erker

Senior Advisor

CPA, CFP®

Matt Erker thrives on applying his extensive background in tax and finance to help clients achieve their financial goals. Life is unpredictable—and everyone follows their own path. The last thing most people want is for financial unpreparedness or errors to impact their ability to live the life they’ve envisioned for themselves and their families. Matt’s expertise and insights position him to provide tailored advice to build lasting relationships with his clients—a role he considers a privilege and a meaningful responsibility.

Matt began his journey at DePaul University, earning his bachelor’s degree in business administration. Following graduation, Matt worked in various tax and financial roles with individual and corporate clients—starting at a regional accounting firm in Chicago. He then moved to PwC and worked exclusively with hedge funds and private equity clients, helping them navigate complex tax issues. Following PwC, he joined global management consultancy Alvarez and Marsal’s transaction advisory group, providing private equity clients with buy/sell side due diligence. Immediately before joining Moneta, Matt worked at the CME Group, helping executives understand and analyze the various financial and operational risks their departments faced.

After years spent focusing primarily on corporate and institutional clients, Matt wanted to focus on working with successful individuals and families—an opportunity he received when he joined Moneta in 2016. Since then, Matt has leveraged his extensive background to help his clients analyze financial issues from various angles and customize solutions for them. He cherishes the personal component of his role and is excited to continue meeting and working with wonderful individuals and families in the years ahead.

Matt and his wife live in University City with their son and Wheaten Terrier. Matt is an aspiring weekend warrior, spending time training for triathlons outside of work. He also serves as the treasurer for Burns Recovered Support Group, an organization providing support for burn victims. Matt enjoys traveling and trying new restaurants—inclinations that have been partially supported by his recent shift to splitting time between St. Louis and Chicago.
