Derek Wilton

Senior Advisor

CPA, CFP®

As an Advisor at Moneta, Derek Wilton works closely with his clients to develop and implement a strategy designed to help them achieve their life’s most important goals. He and his colleagues collaborate to fully understand each client’s unique circumstances, allowing them to develop a customized financial plan specifically focused on the needs of each client. He enjoys the challenge of working with a diverse group of clients and tailoring plans to correspond to their goals and life stages.

Derek earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with majors in Finance and Psychology, as well as his Master of Accounting from Washington University in St. Louis. Prior to joining Moneta in 2014, Derek spent several years with KPMG’s Advisory practice in St. Louis where he worked with multiple Fortune 500 companies. This experience provided him the opportunity to develop key skills in gathering data, analyzing complex situations and identifying improvement opportunities, all of which helped him present specific recommendations to his clients. These are essential skills he applies to serving his clients at Moneta. After several years with KPMG, Derek felt the desire to work more with individuals and families in helping them make better financial decisions that would improve their lives and joined the Kittner team at Moneta.

Derek and his wife live in Eureka with their two children and their Goldendoodle. He is active in his church, The Crossing, serving as a youth ministry leader and facilitating men’s groups. He is passionate about bringing clean water to developing countries. Outside of the office, Derek is an avid barbeque enthusiast, baseball fan and undefeated champion of any and all board games his three year old son wants to play.
