We enjoy an uninterrupted history dating back to our origins in 1869. In 1933, an early leader, William P. Worthington, emphasized the philosophy of “problems to solve, not prospects to sell.” That foundation continues to guide our practice, and it is a powerful philosophy: We offer advice and provide expertise in helping clients coordinate their financial and economic lives. Innovative at the time, that concept was the precursor to what has today become comprehensive financial planning. Developing lasting relationships with clients that allow us to craft financial plans uniquely suited to their goals and dreams continues to be at the heart of what we do.
In the early days of our industry, most brokers and insurance firms found it easiest to focus on selling specific products to investors. Moneta Group’s vision was to escape the impediments created by those inherent conflicts of interest, reinventing itself as a completely new and different kind of wealth management firm: one that was focused on the best interests of its clients. Adopting that innovative philosophy made Moneta the first truly ‘full service’ advisory firm in the St. Louis area.
In 2004, an advisory board of significant Moneta clients recommended that the firm takes steps to ensure that it preserve what those clients valued about their relationship with Moneta: independence, transparency and individual attention based on personal, long-term relationships. Since then, Moneta Group has been owned by its principals and answers to its clients, not to any outside shareholders. Our independence allows us to remain nimble and responsive to the wishes of our clients, and we are committed to growing and expanding our services.
