Thomas O’Meara, BSBA, MBA

Tom O’Meara brings more than 30 years of financial planning expertise to Moneta Group. His practice is comprised of two specialty groups, one focusing on individual wealth management, the other providing strategic business planning services.

“The issues we deal with are wide-ranging, and each family or small business has unique challenges,” Tom says. “It’s satisfying to be able to create a long-term plan designed in the best interests of each client and to interact with them in a relationship built on trust.”

For his individual clients, Tom emphasizes the importance of a holistic approach to wealth management. “My clients come to me for more than traditional investment management. I aim to be ‘Family CFO’ for each of my clients, and that means customizing a plan that includes full-scale financial management, estate planning, wealth preservation, tax planning and more.”

In his work with closely held businesses, Tom brings both depth and breadth of experience. Tom is one of the St. Louis area’s foremost managers of corporate-sponsored retirement plans. In addition, he works with family business owners throughout the St. Louis community, providing strategic planning, financing and succession planning services.

Tom began his career at First National Bank in St. Louis, and his experience includes management responsibilities in corporate, correspondent and retail banking. The diversity of customers in his banking experience proved an excellent training ground for the clients he now serves at Moneta Group.

Tom received his BSBA from the University of Missouri in 1973 and his MBA from St. Louis University in 1976. He has been an instructor and guest lecturer in both finance and management courses at University of Missouri-Columbia and St. Louis Community College. He is a member of the Moneta Group Board of Directors and serves on the advisory boards of several privately held local companies.

Tom's charitable interests include St. Patrick’s Center, St. Louis Heart Association and Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital. He is a member of the Missouri Athletic Club and of Greenbriar Hills Country Club, where he served two terms as president. Currently he serves as Chairman of the Board of the Business Bank of St. Louis and is a Board member of Mental Health America.

Tom enjoys golf, fly fishing, and travel. He and his wife, Sue, have two children, Meghan and Tom, Jr. Meghan works in merchandising as director of center store at Schnuck Markets, and Tom, Jr., is part of the O’Meara team at Moneta Group.
