Steven L. Finerty, J.D., CFP®

When advising clients about their financial situations, Moneta Group principal Steve Finerty draws upon legal and investment training, as well as more than 30 years of practical experience. “Using this training and experience, I advise individuals and institutions on how best to accomplish their particular goals and objectives,” he says.

He also works to put himself in his clients' shoes. “I try very hard to explain things in understandable terms and to see things from my clients' point of view. I want the advice my clients receive to be consistent with advice I would want to receive if I were the client.”

Steve joined Moneta Group in 1986. He co-founded Retirement Plan Services, Inc., a full-service retirement plan administrative company, in 1989 and continues to serve on their board. Steve also co-founded and serves as Chairman of Argent Capital Management LLC. In addition to his Family CFO responsibilities, he acts as an advisor to a large number of qualified retirement plan and endowment sponsors on administrative and investment issues.

Steve originally trained at The Boatmen’s National Bank of St. Louis, ultimately being named vice president in charge of Personal Trust Marketing. He earned his B.S. in business from Drake University in 1975 and his J.D. from University of Missouri School of Law in 1978. Steve is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and a member of the Missouri Bar Association and St. Louis Bar Association, the Estate Planning Council of St. Louis and the Financial Planning Association.

Steve sits on numerous corporate boards, including Argent Capital Management LLC, Enterprise Bank and Trust, Moneta Group Investment Advisors, LLC and Retirement Plan Services, Inc.

He is also active in the civic community and is involved with the following organizations: St. Louis Symphony Endowment Trust (President), John Burroughs School (Chairman, Investment Committee), E.
