"Doing what the client asks is not enough." This is the philosophy Moneta Group principal Tim Halls follows when serving as a Family CFO. "We continually ask questions about where clients want to go and then come up with ideas about how to get them there," says Tim. "Many times this involves addressing details clients are too busy to think about on their own or pressing them to take action on issues such as estate planning or insurance that are easy to put off. Other times, it's helping them step back and make decisions based on a bigger picture."

No matter what they do, being an advocate for a client is something Tim and his team take very seriously. "Above all, we relish our role as an advocate for each of our clients. We frequently ask ourselves, 'If this were our family, what would we do?'" says Tim. "Nothing is more rewarding than providing families counsel and advice that is 100 percent in their best interest. It truly helps us sleep well at night."

Prior to joining Moneta Group in 2002, Tim spent nearly 14 years with Boatmen's Bank of St. Louis/Bank of America developing extensive experience in commercial banking, primarily with local, closely-held middle-market businesses. Tim was senior vice president of Commercial and Institutional Banking.

Tim earned his B.A. in economics from DePauw University in 1988 and his graduate degree in banking from ABA Stonier School of Banking in 1996. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional, and an Accredited Wealth Management Advisor. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Active in the community, Tim has served on the Boards of Prevent Child Abuse Missouri and the Delta Gamma Center for Visual Impairment.  He is currently on the Advisory Boards of Ameren's Pure Power and Maryville University's "Kids Rock Cancer."

In addition to spending time with family and enjoying the local sports teams, Tim's greatest personal hobby is music. He plays keyboards and bass in the local British Invasion band, Flaming Pie, and enjoys the piano as a way to relax.

Tim and his wife, Callie, live in Webster Groves and have two young daughters, Chloe and Ellie.
