"Communications are important to me," says Betsy Dow. "I think of myself as a teacher, responsible for helping clients understand what we're working toward and why it is in their best interests. When I'm able to strike that balance, then my relationships with clients feel right, and that's something I value very highly."
Having spent the early part of her career in public accounting, the last three specializing in tax, Betsy felt dissatisfied. "I wanted to be able to look deeper into each client's situation and take a more holistic approach to planning," she says. She enjoyed a 25-year career at A.G. Edwards. During 17 years in the home office, Betsy was instrumental in developing the firm's resources in retirement plans, financial plans, business and executive services and tax.
"I love this work because I feel confident that the aptitude I bring to the profession and the skills I've developed over time mean I can provide the service clients expect and deserve. That makes work enjoyable and comfortable for me—and that's a good feeling."
A personalized approach to each client's needs is a top priority. "I am excited about being part of Moneta Group," she says, "because its values and philosophy—particularly that of always putting clients first—is so closely aligned with what I truly value. These are principles and ethics that will allow me to deliver 'Raving Fan' service in an environment that values its clients above everything. I'm excited about the future."
Betsy and her husband, Mark, have a son, Greg. She is an avid reader and is learning to play golf.
